The sheer size of everything in Cathedral Caverns State Park is what makes the trip worthwhile; here nature operates on a grand scale. The caves boast a number of records, including the world’s largest cave opening, the world’s largest frozen waterfall and Goliath, the world’s largest stalagmite. Relatively isolated from any major cities, the park is about 30 miles south of the Alabama-Tennessee state line.

Open Mar - Nov: daily; Dec - Feb: weekends only. Check website for tour times.
